The West offered former Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to start a war with Russia, founder and honorary chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili said in an interview with Imedi TV.
"When a high-ranking official of a (Western. - Editor's note) country had such a conversation with him, Irakli asked: "But how do you imagine how many days we can fight, how many days we can endure?" He was told, "Probably three or four days." He said: "And for the sake of these three or four days you are destroying us?" He was told, "There are three or four million of you. They won't kill all of you in three or four days. Then you can start a guerrilla movement in the forests. We will help you, you will fight from there," the politician said.
He called this attitude of the West towards Georgia a reality.
The politician also recalled that from the U.S. and its allies there are statements about the inadmissibility of NATO war with Russia under any circumstances.
"That's why we were left and left Ukraine, we were forced to fight and they want to force us to fight again," Ivanishvili explained.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke last week about Western attempts to open a second front against Russia in the Transcaucasus. According to him, the US and its allies are planning to destabilize the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and exacerbate their relations with Georgia.
Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern over attempts by Western countries to draw the Transcaucasus into a geopolitical confrontation. The Foreign Ministry noted that the interference of extra-regional forces in the affairs of the Transcaucasus and the desire to drive a wedge between the states of the region and their neighbors could have the most negative consequences for regional stability, security and economic development.
