Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on Elon Musk's gesture at Donald Trump’s inauguration as he spoke to the media in Minsk on January 26, BelTA has learned, Report informs.

Italian journalists asked the head of state about his attitude to the European Parliament resolution equating Soviet symbols with Nazi symbols.

The president emphasized that Belarus knows all too well what Nazi symbols are. Unfortunately, the country paid a terrible price for this knowledge. Belarus’ losses in the Great Patriotic War were enormous. The country was virtually wiped off the face of the earth and took a long time to restore.

In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to Elon Musk's gesture during the inauguration of Donald Trump. “They cannot say anything to justify it. This is an open Nazi salute, the Americans and Mr Musk have simply taken this too far,” the head of state said. He emphasized that Musk is probably well aware that this gesture is associated with the Nazi salute.

“Why do you go on stage and do the Hitler salute in front of millions of people? Are you doing anyone good? We, together with the Americans, fought against it. It’s just nuts,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
