Tbilisi is hosting an event of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27. Georgia became the first country to host the event. In 2024, the theme of the Day is “Tourism and Peace” (Tourism and Peace). The name echoes the slogans of the election campaign of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

Delegations from more than 40 countries arrived in Georgia for the forum. These are heads of international organizations, members of foreign governments, leading players in the tourism industry, transport sector and media.

The venue of the conference is the Paragraph Hotel. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Executive Secretary of UN Tourism Zurab Pololikashvili, Minister of Natural Resources of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Khatib will address the guests with a welcoming speech today.

The forum participants will discuss global trends in tourism development and issues of cooperation between countries in this direction.

Georgia has been chosen to host the main event of the tourism industry in June 2023. 38 member countries of the European Commission UN Tourism voted unanimously in favor.
