Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, said in a telegram on September 17: 'Georgia has matured politically in the past 16 years.'. For many people, this is impossible, a perpetual confrontation
According to him, Ivanishvili's statement helps create the possibility of a "new atmosphere" in relations with the occupied Tskhinvali region and is "greatly welcomed in the Caucasus region and the whole world"
Karasin said, "People are increasingly realizing that the hostility and confrontation after Saakashvili's adventure in 2008 must give way to rationality and stability.
According to him, Ivanishvili's statement, accompanied by intense public protests, coincided with the outbreak of scandal emotions in the focus group before the election, and they were dissatisfied with the calm development of the country's political process He also pointed out that those who exacerbate the situation on the eve of the upcoming Georgian parliamentary elections, as well as those who believe that destabilizing Georgia and the region is their strategic interest, are planning to worsen the situation.
On September 14th, Bizna Ivanishvili accused "external" forces and the Georgian authorities at a campaign conference in Gori of being responsible for the 2008 war. He said: "We will find the strength to apologize for throwing our Ossetian brothers and sisters into the fire for the betrayal of the national movement in 2008.
