Armenia should think about the consequences of its actions against Russia and Iran in the issue of unblocking communications in the South Caucasus. Secretary of the opposition parliamentary faction "I have the honor" Tigran Abrahamyan expressed this point of view in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
In his opinion, the topic of unblocking regional communications should not become a field of clash of geopolitical interests. At the same time, according to his observations, at this stage, attempts are being made to resolve geopolitical issues at the expense of Iran and Russia.
"Of course, each country has its own interests, and the solution to problems must correspond to the logic of these interests. But when you try to do this at the expense of or against countries that have great influence in the region, this will affect not only relations with these states, but also the security and political environment as a whole. The task here is not to constantly look back, trying to understand to what extent this or that situation corresponds to the interests of Russia or Iran. Nevertheless, the Armenian authorities should especially think about the consequences of infringing on the interests of Russia and Iran," the politician emphasized.
According to Abrahamyan, the Armenian authorities must make every effort to avoid finding themselves in the epicenter of a clash of geopolitical interests.
At the same time, he notes that unblocking regional communications would not have been discussed in the context of Armenia's actions if the statements of official Yerevan were acceptable to Iran and Russia.
Commenting on the government's narratives that concessions to Baku and Ankara will bring long-awaited peace, Abrahamyan expressed concern that such a position will not only fail to bring peace, but will also deprive Armenians of the opportunity to live in their own country.
"The authorities' ideas about peace are exaggerated. After the 44-day war, meetings were held in all formats - in Moscow, Brussels, Washington. They were based only on the demands and threats of Azerbaijan, I do not see Armenian interests there. If the principle of the authorities is to fulfill all the demands of Turkey and Azerbaijan, "but we will live in peace", then I would like to clearly say that fulfilling all the demands will completely deprive us not only of peace, but will also cast great doubt on the existence of Armenians in their homeland," the opposition deputy concluded.
Earlier, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Akbar Velayati said that the implementation of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor" would plunge Iran and Russia into a land blockade.
