The Azerbaijani side believes that the meeting in Abu Dhabi was constructive and assesses it as such, Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the foreign policy department of Aliyev's administration, told reporters in occupied Shushi, according to Azerbaijan's APA.
This is how the Azerbaijani official assessed Aliyev's meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Another characteristic feature of this meeting was that it was held without intermediaries or third parties. This shows that, on Azerbaijan's initiative, the peace process is fully taking place in the form of bilateral negotiations. For more than two years, negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been conducted precisely in this format. Successes have been achieved in promoting the peace agenda in this bilateral format," Hajiyev said.
