Attempts by external forces, including Great Britain, to prepare Georgian activists for protests and a change of power in the country are doomed to failure, said Archil Gorduladze, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party.
According to Prime Time, Great Britain is preparing Georgian activists in Lithuania for the upcoming local government elections in October. The recruitment of participants for the training is being carried out with the mediation of the non-governmental organizations British-Georgian Society and the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
"It is not surprising that with the participation of Great Britain, people are being prepared for the so-called protest, which is in fact aimed at organizing new violent actions in our country, overthrowing the government and forcibly bringing agents to power," Gorduladze said.
The MP recalled that earlier the British embassy tried to finance candidates from the United National Movement, covering it up with unfounded pretexts. According to him, a similar situation is observed today, and it is not surprising that Great Britain is behind this again.
"If we refer to the former Prime Minister of Great Britain (Liz Truss - ed.), then the influence of the "deep state" is especially strong in Great Britain, and it is this "deep state" that is now trying to train its agents in different countries in order to subsequently cause unrest in Georgia. This is not surprising for society," he noted.
The main thing, according to Gorduladze, is that both law enforcement agencies, the Georgian people, and the Georgian Dream party firmly stand in defense of the country's sovereignty.
"Therefore, such trainings, involvement and attempts to bring destructive influence to our country are, of course, doomed to failure," Gorduladze emphasized.
State services are doing their job properly, so any attempts based on radicalism and hatred will inevitably fail, said Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party and Tbilisi Mayor.
According to him, the "deep state" is continuing its attempts to destabilize the situation in Georgia and organize a coup d'etat. As Kaladze noted, in recent years the country has repeatedly faced similar actions directed against Georgian statehood and the current government, which defends the interests of the people, not foreign states.
"Today they are fighting against the Georgian government precisely because we defend the interests of our country and the people who live here. This is very painful and completely unprofitable for them," Kaladze said.
He emphasized that this is precisely why new attempts are being made to prepare and train people to organize unrest, but such actions are not a surprise to society.
According to Georgian media, the UK is organizing trainings in the Baltic countries for opponents of the Georgian government ahead of the upcoming local government elections in Georgia.
In Lithuania, Georgian activists are being trained in street protest tactics, provocations and recording of "excessive violence" by law enforcement officers, personal protection in case of detention, popularization of information campaigns with an emphasis on creating so-called viral content and disseminating targeted materials via the Telegram Internet messenger.
Recruitment of participants for these trainings is carried out through the NGO "British-Georgian Society" and the "International Institute for Strategic Studies" under the guise of student educational programs and courses on cybersecurity. It is noteworthy that, according to the source, the head offices of both NGOs are located in the capital of Great Britain - London.
