The Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of two maritime drones in the northeastern part of the Black Sea last night.
The exact location was not specified in the military ministry's statement. However, earlier Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko reported in social networks about the threat of attack by uncrewed boats. Traffic was restricted in the area of the embankment in the city. The mayor urged city residents not to go ashore, not to stand by the windows in houses on the first shoreline and not to film or post the reflection of the attack. Despite this, Telegram channels are publishing videos in which the Russian military can be heard and seen trying to repel the attack.
At around 8 a.m., the alert, which had been going on since half past two in the morning, was canceled. There was no word from the mayor of Novorossiysk on the aftermath of the attack.
Novorossiysk is a port on the Black Sea in the Krasnodar region. Last fall, some ships of Russia's Black Sea Fleet were transferred from Sevastopol in annexed Crimea to the port of Novorossiysk. Since then, the city has been repeatedly attacked by maritime drones. Novorossiysk is also Russia's main commercial port on the Black Sea.
On the night of September 5, Ukrainian drones attacked several Russian regions. Two drones each were shot down over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions, while three drones were shot down over the Kursk region. One Olkha MLRS rocket was also shot down over the Belgorod region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
