Head of the German Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee Michael Roth will again arrive in Georgia as part of his Caucasus tour.

He plans to visit Tbilisi on September 16-18 and Yerevan on September 18-19.

“I am looking forward to meeting friends, allies and supporters of the European course on September 16-18 in Georgia and Armenia,” Roth wrote on social media.

Roth traveled to Tbilisi in May as part of a delegation of parliaments from six EU countries. The Georgian government refused to meet with the delegation, and only Nikoloz Samkharadze, head of the parliament's Foreign Relations Committee, agreed to talk to the ruling party.

Roth then joined protesters against the law on foreign agents at a rally outside the Georgian parliament. He also called the Georgian Dream a “Georgian nightmare.”

The announcement of the Bundestag deputy's arrival was met negatively in the ruling party. Majority leader Mamuka Mdinaradze explained his arrival by the approaching elections and an attempt to interfere in Georgia's internal affairs.

According to him, Michael Roth is “a lifeline for worthless opposition parties.”

“He has already been first in our parliament - ostensibly with business meetings and business appearance. Then he made anti-government appeals at a radical agent opposition rally. If Nikoloz Samkharadze (Head of the Georgian Parliament Committee - ed.) comes to Germany, demands Scholz's resignation and uses some epithets against him, what will be the reaction of our German colleagues?” - Mdinaradze said.
