President of Azerbaijan to visit Uzbekistan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will arrive in the republic on a state visit on August 22-23 at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.

“In accordance with the program of stay in the city of Tashkent it is planned to hold negotiations at the highest level and the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council chaired by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan,” the report says.

The agenda of the summit includes issues of further deepening and expansion of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation.

Attention will be paid to increasing mutual trade turnover, formation of a new portfolio of cooperation projects, development of business contacts, including within the framework of interregional exchange, disclosure of transport and communication potential, activation of cultural and humanitarian ties and other.

The heads of state are also scheduled to hold a joint meeting with business representatives of the two countries.
