The issue of judicial independence is also fundamental. Understandably, when this issue is raised, it is said about independence from the Government and authorities, which is an undeniable agenda. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the conference “Justice as an Instrument for Achieving Justice” on April 21.

“But are we sure that when this system is independent of the Government, it is not dependent on some other place? What mechanism should give us confidence that we have an independent judiciary? On the other hand, how independent can a judiciary be from the people? What is the mechanism of this independence? Since, ultimately, there is only one source of power in Armenia, and that source is the people, therefore, the people should also be able to understand what happens to the institutions they have created, how these institutions work, what goals they pursue, what results they generate. These are questions that should also be answered,” Pashinyan said.
