Pashinyan's associate responded to the former president: the European Union is significantly better than the Union State

The European Union and the Union State of Russia and Belarus are simply not comparable entities by many indicators. This was stated by Sona Ghazaryan, a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract party, at the sitting of the National Assembly on September 11, commenting on the statements of Armenia's second president about the country's possible entry into the Union State.

She then addressed her colleagues from the opposition. “Don't you notice the difference between surrendering the country's sovereignty and partnership? The difference in the relationship between the states in these two units?”, Ghazaryan said with bewilderment.

According to the parliamentarian, the EU countries treat each other with respect. They take into account each other's independence, sovereignty and statehood. “The desire to join a union based on democracy, where states respect each other, as opposed to another union, where relations are completely different and respect is based on completely different values, is quite understandable,” the MP said.
