These are investment projects in such areas as electrical engineering, construction materials, and pharmaceuticals. A textile industrial park will also be created in one of the districts of the region.
TASHKENT, October 15 - Sputnik. Shavkat Mirziyoyev has launched 9 projects worth $2 billion in Tashkent region, the press service of the head of state reported.
In particular, a special industrial technopark “Great Silk Road” will be built in the city of Almalyk on the area of 227 hectares at the expense of investments of $1 billion.
“It will house about 100 enterprises in such areas as electrical engineering, textiles, construction materials, pharmaceuticals. 3 thousand new jobs will be created, production of products worth 5 trillion soums a year will be established, and there will be an opportunity to export goods worth 300 million dollars,” the report said.
In Yukorichirchik district, a textile industrial park worth $350 million will be created on 69 hectares. It will house more than 20 enterprises producing yarn, dyed fabric and finished textile products.
Uzbekistan is consistently increasing production and export of food products. By 2030, it is to increase food production by 2 times, exports by 5 times, and the level of added value by 3 times. Tashkent region will make a great contribution to achieving this goal.
Enterprises for production of 50 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers and chemicals per year are being put into operation in Yangiyul district, and enterprises for production of high-quality export-oriented food products are being put into operation in Kibray.
Tashkent region also has a great potential in the energy sector, where there are capacities of 5.7 gigawatts. In order to increase this amount, 6 projects with a capacity of more than 800 megawatts are being implemented at a cost of 1.5 billion dollars.
Along with the development of green energy, the country is working hard to maintain the stability of the energy system. Therefore, it is planned to build electricity storage systems with a total capacity of 4 thousand 100 megawatts by 2030.
An important role in this is played by three projects that will be realized with the participation of leading Chinese companies. First of all, a solar power plant will be built in Buka district at a cost of 240 million dollars. This station will generate 576 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is enough to supply 240 thousand households. This will bring the region's generation capacity to 6.5 gigawatts and electricity production to 24 billion kilowatt-hours per year.
Two more projects are energy storage systems with a capacity of 200 megawatts at a cost of 220 million dollars, which will be built in Parkent and Pskent districts. They will avoid blackouts during peak hours and reliably supply consumers with electricity.
In recent years, new hydropower plants with a capacity of more than 400 megawatts have been built in Uzbekistan through investments of 630 million dollars, and the total capacity of hydropower has reached 2.2 gigawatts.
Studies show that there is an opportunity to build 44 hydropower plants with a capacity of 3,280 megawatts in the country. Especially in Tashkent region there is a great hydropower potential.
“Currently, 25 hydropower plants with a total capacity of 1 thousand 330 megawatts are operating in the oblast. This makes up 60 percent of the total hydropower capacity of the republic,” the report said.
Now four more hydroelectric power plants are being built at a cost of 880 million dollars and with a capacity of 340 megawatts. Also, 23 projects with a total capacity of about 2 thousand 400 megawatts worth 4 billion 800 million dollars will be implemented in the region until 2028.
During the ceremony, two of them were put into operation - small HPP with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts built in Ahangaran district and small Ugam HPP with a capacity of 1.5 megawatts built in Bostanlyk district. These capacities will generate 18 million 400 thousand kilowatt-hours of “green” energy per year and provide electricity to 7 thousand 600 households.
Reference:
Over the past five years, the volume of industrial production in Tashkent region increased 1.5 times and amounted to 107 trillion soums, the volume of regional exports increased 3.5 times and reached almost 1 billion dollars.
Favorable business and investment climate contributes to the increase in investment and introduction of advanced technologies. If in 2018 only 20 million dollars of investments were absorbed in the region, last year this figure reached 1 billion dollars. The number of enterprises with foreign capital is also growing every year and currently stands at 1,700.
Today, 91 foreign investment projects worth 20 billion 360 million dollars and 28 domestic investment projects worth 4.5 billion dollars are underway.
