The European Union has announced a new program to support civil society in Georgia with a budget of more than 1.5 million euros.

The program, called “Resilient, Engaged, Active Civil Society for Transformation” (REACT), will run for two years. It will be implemented in all 10 regions of the country with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS).

The stated objectives are to strengthen local civil society, promote democratic governance and increase civic participation. The project provides support for local initiatives and crowdfunding projects, as well as funding for corporate social responsibility programs, which should promote closer interaction between the civil sector and business.

It is expected that REACT will cover 500 public and charitable organizations, as well as initiative groups. Up to 3,000 citizens, including activists, youth, teachers and scientists, will participate in the project. Business representatives will also be able to join the program - about 50 companies from the regions.

The EU emphasizes that REACT continues the efforts started within the framework of previous programs to support civil society in Georgia. The new initiative is designed to help them face current challenges and continue to contribute to democratic governance in the country.
