Before the assassination of Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Israel received information about his arrival in the southern suburbs of Beirut from a spy in Iran, the Parisien newspaper reported, citing a Lebanese security source.

The Hezbollah leader was assassinated on September 28 at his headquarters, located in a complex of six buildings in the center of Dahiya, a southern suburb of Beirut. According to the same source, an Iranian mole informed the Israelis of the Shiite leader's imminent arrival. Convinced of his arrival, the Israeli general staff ordered the bombing.

“The Israelis did their best, they didn't want to miss their target,” the source said.

Dozens of villages and several regional locations came under fire. Observers note that there have not been such intense raids since the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

Israeli strikes killed 33 people and wounded 195 in Lebanon on Sept. 28, the Health Ministry said.
