Uzbekistan plans to lift 500 thousand people out of poverty by the end of the year

The President signed a decree providing for the implementation of the "From Poverty to Well-Being" program, the formation of a register of poor families and measures to support citizens included in this register.
The Presidential Decree "On taking measures to reduce poverty and improve the welfare of the population to a new stage" has been adopted.
According to the document, the priority task of the state socio-economic policy for the remaining period of this year will be to lift 500 thousand people out of poverty, and in 2025 - 1 million.
The program "From Poverty to Well-Being" will also be implemented and a republican commission for its implementation will be created. The program will operate from November 1 in accordance with the principle of "Seven Opportunities and Responsibilities for Poor Families" and will provide for, among other things, the achievement of stable employment, education, access to guaranteed public health care and social services, improvement of living conditions and other things.
From December 1, 2024, the National Agency for Social Protection will form a register of poor families based on the results of the study of social conditions of poor families and reasons for falling into poverty by the "makhalla seven".
From January 1, 2025:
- in case of employment, self-employment, establishment of entrepreneurial activity by officially unemployed members of families receiving allowances and material assistance for children from poor families, payment of these allowances and material assistance will continue until the end of their payment period, but for a period not exceeding 6 months;
- social tax will be paid at the rate of 1% for 3 years on a member of a family included in the Register of Poor Families who is employed with a monthly salary of at least 1.5 times the minimum wage;
- Support measures for poor families will be provided on the basis of a social contract, taking into account such conditions as ensuring the employment of able-bodied family members, effective use of their homestead lands, education, mastering a profession and learning foreign languages by family members, including children, as well as monitoring their health and keeping their homes clean.
