White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt did not specify whether the pause in intelligence sharing with Ukraine was temporary or permanent, CNN reported.
‘I believe the National Security Council has told me on this that they have suspended or are reviewing funding for Ukraine, as you saw the suspension of funding. In terms of intelligence issues, I would also refer you to either the National Security Council or the CIA,’ Leavitt said.
Asked whether the administration was considering resuming military aid to Ukraine, Livitt said ‘this is a pause for reconsideration.’
Statements by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and CIA Director John Ratcliffe on Wednesday morning indicated that there was a pause in intelligence sharing with Ukraine, but the extent of the restrictions was unclear.
The two officials also suggested that the pause might not be long if the U.S. president could be convinced that Ukraine had taken steps toward negotiations to end the war - a controversial effort that appeared to have been derailed after a stormy 28 February Oval Office spat between President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
