The European Parliament will hold a debate on “political unrest in Georgia” today. The discussion is scheduled to start at 16:00 Tbilisi time.

The schedule says that the European Parliament will hold “a debate on the political unrest in Georgia and the ongoing repression in Belarus.” There will also be a vote on a resolution on Belarus.

Aсcording to the head of the European bureau of Radio Liberty, Rickard Jozwiak, the debate on Georgia will be held on January 21, while the vote on the resolution on Georgia is scheduled for the February session.

In addition to the debate in the European Parliament, an assessment report on the parliamentary elections in Georgia will be presented these days at the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Earlier, PACE sent a fact-finding mission to Georgia to assess the observance of human rights against the backdrop of the political crisis. The mission, headed by Georgia co-rapporteurs Claude Kern and Edith Estrela, visited Tbilisi from January 14 to 16.
