The West does not stop its efforts to destabilize the South Caucasus, particularly Georgia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Indeed, the West does not stop efforts to destabilize the South Caucasus. Georgia is a clear example. The US and the EU have decided to demonstrably punish the country that suddenly “dared” to play by its own rules, not those imposed on it,” the diplomat said.
He noted that the West unapologetically interferes in the internal affairs of the republic, tries to change the sovereign choice of the Georgian people and their elected authorities in favor of peace and prosperity, “ultimatum put Tbilisi before a false choice: either with the West or with Moscow.”
“Georgia was pushed into the adventure of opening a 'second front' against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. They wanted the Georgian people to shed blood for interests alien to them. At the same time in the framework of international discussions on security and stability in the Transcaucasus Americans and EU hypocritically postulate theses about peace”, - concluded Galuzin.
