Representatives of the West demanded to open a “second front” against Russia, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said, his words are quoted by 1TV.
“For some time it was difficult for us to talk about it, that, for example, the Prime Minister was rudely talked to in his office, together with the party chairman, and there was a direct attempt to open a second front in the country by force, by twisting arms,” he said.
In addition, he said, there was a direct attempt and crude pressure for Georgia to join the sanctions, which would be disastrous for the country's economy and future.
The West claims that Georgia has moved away from democratic principles and has imposed sanctions against it in 2024 - the US has imposed visa restrictions on dozens of people who are “responsible for undermining democracy in Georgia”, Britain has limited any support programs and defense cooperation with the country's government. In early December, Lithuania and Estonia banned entry to representatives of Georgia's leadership, including Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili. Prime Minister Kobakhidze also came under Ukrainian sanctions along with him.
