SCO Secretary General talks about the organization's plans for 2025

The work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in 2025 will be aimed at promoting peace, security and development in the SCO space, the Organization's Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev told RIA Novosti.
“In general, the work of the SCO in 2025 will be aimed at promoting peace, security and development in the SCO space. And personally, my task as the Secretary General of the Organization, who has assumed this position, is to establish and strengthen, improve the efficiency of the SCO secretariat as the main executive body, a kind of headquarters of the Organization, and to assist the member states in achieving the goals and solving the tasks they set for the Organization,” Yermekbayev said.
He added that an important task is to ensure that “work within the SCO framework brings practical, tangible benefits to the peoples of our countries”.
The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. It includes India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, Observer countries Afghanistan and Mongolia, and partner countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
