Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has said that Uzbekistan's experience in fighting corruption will be in demand in the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption (ICAC), and full membership in the council will give it more weight.
“I am convinced that the full membership of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the council will give it more weight, and the significant experience of anti-corruption work of the agency you head will be in demand in the practical activities of all participants of the association,” Krasnov said on September 19 at a meeting with the director of Uzbekistan's Anti-Corruption Agency, Akmal Burkhanov.
The Russian Prosecutor General suggested Akmal Burkhanov to consider signing a cooperation agreement, which would increase the effectiveness of joint efforts in countering corrupt practices.
The delegation from Uzbekistan participated for the first time in the meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption as an observer.
The IASC currently includes representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
