An ideological gap in the sphere of values is emerging between the United States and European Union countries, Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said in his Telegram channel.

"The confrontation on the issue of values also plays a significant role. For the first time, an ideological gap has emerged between the US and Europe: the 'values' imposed on Europeans by the EU ruling circles are incompatible with the conservative values of the Trump-Vance camp with the US, which adds ideological poison to the sharply complicated relations between the two constituent parts of the West," Pushkov wrote.

The senator noted that an obvious "reformatting" of the West is underway. According to him, "the main anti-Russian force" at the level of current politics is becoming the European Union.

"Over the past 10-15 years, starting with the war in Georgia, a liberal-globalist ruling majority independent in its hostility to Russia, to a certain extent independent of the United States, began to take shape in the EU. Since 2014-2015, European ruling circles, contrary to widespread perceptions, no longer followed the U.S. in its anti-Russian policy, but acted together with it. The EU introduced all new packages of sanctions, not imitating the Americans, but in tandem with them, although acting as a junior partner," the parliamentarian stated.
