The Georgian authorities attach great importance to economic cooperation with China, as well as partnerships with Europe and the US, and will do everything possible to further strengthen the country's connecting role, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.

The head of the Georgian government noted that serious steps will continue to be taken to maximize the country's potential.

"We have connected the West and the East, Europe and Asia, and from this point of view, our role remains very important. However, our main task is to further strengthen this role in the interests of our country," Kobakhidze said on Imedi TV.

To this end, according to the prime minister, major investments are being made in road and rail infrastructure, ports, and airports. As Kobakhidze noted, Georgia connects seven countries to the sea, and thus to Europe and the West, and the authorities must fully utilize this potential and deepen cooperation with these countries.

"In this context, economic cooperation with China, as well as partnership with Europe and the US in the economic sphere, is extremely important. We will do everything possible in all these areas to further strengthen our country's so-called connecting function," Kobakhidze said.

Georgia's transit role plays a special role in economic development, given the existing free trade agreements with China, Turkey, and the EU. To strengthen Georgia's role, a large-scale project is currently underway to build part of the East-West Highway, which connects Asia and Europe via Georgia.
