Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to hold talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow on April 1
Prime Minister Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow, coming as it does on the eve of the Armenian general election, is likely to fuel further speculation regarding the election. Recently, Armenia and Russia have engaged in extensive commercial dialogue regarding the South Caucasus Railway Company and the construction of a nuclear power plant. Meanwhile, Yerevan’s involvement in the TRIPP corridor and the upcoming EU leaders’ summit in Yerevan in early May demonstrate Pashinyan’s strategy of diplomatic diversification. However, the contradictions are also evident. The South Caucasus region is now set to attract greater attention and scrutiny; we shall wait and see.
"The current state and prospects of the strategic partnership and allied relationship between Russia and Armenia, integration-focused cooperation within the Eurasian space, and some current regional matters, particularly the development of economic, transport, and logistics ties in the South Caucasus, will be on the agenda," the Kremlin specified.
