Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that law enforcement agencies had foiled a “criminal-oligarchic-clerical” plan to seize power in the country.

“Law enforcement officers prevented a large-scale and sinister criminal-oligarchic-clerical plan to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Armenia and seize power,” Pashinyan wrote on Facebook* (banned in Russia as extremist).

On Wednesday, the Investigative Committee of Armenia said that the Holy Struggle movement, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who in 2024 led protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, was planning terrorist attacks and a takeover of power. In particular, it is alleged that the movement's members had acquired the necessary means and tools to carry out terrorist attacks and seize power and “planned to form 200-250 strike groups of 25 people each, mainly consisting of former military personnel and police officers, who were to be given specific tasks.”

On Tuesday, Pashinyan, citing a publication on the online resource civic.am, announced the existence of a certain opposition plan to carry out a coup in the country. Opposition figures ridiculed this statement and called the published “plan” a fake.
