When the head of the ruling force, in response to Azerbaijan's demand for demilitarization from Armenia, declares readiness to form a mechanism for negotiations on mutual arms control, quotas, restrictions on use, the first thing that comes to mind is the 4 villages surrendered in Tavush last year. Tigran Abrahamyan, MP of the “I Have Honor” parliamentary faction, wrote about it on his Facebook page.
He noted that before the surrender of these villages, Pashinyan claimed that Azerbaijan controlled various parts of 32 Armenian villages in Tavush as a result of the 90s war and tried to explain his concession on the basis of the principle of reciprocity.
“That is, according to the Soviet-era map, there should have been a “demarcation” in Tavush, where concessions should have been reciprocal, but what happened was what everyone knows, and only Armenia ceded the territories.
Now, given these realities and experiences, is there any sane person who believes that Armenia's proposal for mutual control or limitation of arms issues will be the basis for an agenda or a bilateral agreement? Of course not.
I'll say something worse. In fact, it suggests that at some stage this proposal will be edited and only Armenia's quotas, restrictions and arms control will remain,” Abrahamyan wrote.
