Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan: “Hookah is a direct path to drug addiction and cancer”

A representative of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, Shukhrat Shukurov, made a statement regarding the risks associated with hookah smoking. According to the specialist, this form of tobacco use poses a serious threat to public health, as it can lead to the development of persistent nicotine addiction, comparable in strength to a mild form of drug addiction.


Shukurov emphasized that hookah smoke contains a number of substances dangerous for the human body. Among them are carcinogens that provoke the development of cancer, as well as toxins that negatively affect the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. In the long term, hookah smoking can cause lung cancer, ischemic heart disease, stroke, infertility and other serious pathologies.


The Ministry of Health urges citizens to be conscious of their health and refuse to smoke hookah.
