Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze believes that there are people in the European bureaucracy who cannot accept the will of the Georgian people.

"We see that there are people in European bureaucracy who cannot adapt to the will of the Georgian people in favor of peace and development of the country. In addition, there were many bureaucrats in the previous US administration who also could not accept the will of the Georgian people. I hope that there will be some changes in the direction of the United States, we are patiently waiting for all this. As for the European bureaucracy, there are no major changes here, we are in a mode of strategic patience, and I hope that there will be some changes in the direction of Europe as well," Kobakhidze said in an interview with Imedi TV.

The prime minister recalled how EU Ambassador Pavel Gerchinsky gave a speech before the parliamentary elections and directly called on voters to mobilize against the Georgian Dream government.

Relations between Georgia and the European Union deteriorated after the Georgian parliament passed a law on foreign agents in May last year. On November 28, 2024, Kobakhidze announced the decision to suspend consideration of the issue of starting negotiations on the country's membership in the European Union until 2028. Since then, protests demanding new parliamentary elections have been ongoing in Georgia. European politicians have repeatedly expressed their support for the protesters.
