Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation in the region at a meeting before a soccer match between the national teams of the two countries in Yerevan.
The press service of the Georgian government reports that the sides noted “the special importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.” Kobakhidze, for his part, said Georgia welcomes the conclusion of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a peace agreement.
“This is a historic step towards lasting peace and stability in the region,” he emphasized.
Other topics were the issues of the strategic partnership agenda of Georgia and Armenia - cooperation in trade-economic, transportation and cultural spheres.
The Georgian national soccer team will face Armenia today in the first play-off match of the UEFA Nations League. The game will be held at the Vazgen Sargsyan stadium in Yerevan.
