Kavelasvili sets date for local government elections

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has scheduled local government elections for October 4, 2025, according to his administration.
"According to a decree by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, local government elections in Georgia will be held on October 4, 2025. The decree was also signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze," the administration said.
Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream party has officially nominated Kakha Kaladze for mayor of Tbilisi in the upcoming local elections. Kaladze has held this position since 2017. Since 2013, he has also been the secretary general of the Georgian Dream party. From 2012 to 2017, he served as Georgia's energy minister and deputy prime minister.
