Tehran has bilateral transit relations with eight countries in the region and is ready to develop transport infrastructure to ensure their access to world markets. This was stated by Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

"Eight countries — Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — have bilateral transit relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran... By developing its transport infrastructure, the Islamic Republic of Iran has laid the foundation for neighboring countries to take advantage of these opportunities, promoting trade, economic development, access to the global market, and sustainable growth," Arif said.

According to him, a shared ancient civilization and cultural heritage have contributed to solidarity and unity among the peoples of the region for many centuries. Arif emphasized that as a major transit hub, Iran plays a strategic role in connecting the continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries is being held on August 5-8 at the Avaza National Tourist Zone in the Turkmen city of Turkmenbashi on the Caspian Sea coast.
