In Turkmenistan, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded a medal in connection with the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi. This is reported by the press service of the head of state.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced the decision to award Shavkat Mirziyoyev the medal during the International Forum “Interconnection of times and civilizations - the basis of peace and development” dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. He expressed gratitude for the measures taken in Uzbekistan to immortalize the memory of the poet.
It was emphasized that the 300th anniversary of the poet's birth is being widely celebrated in Uzbekistan this year. Conferences, seminars, literary evenings, contests, performances and other events are being organized. Uzbek and Turkmen cinematographers have made a joint feature film about the poet.
In his speech, Mirziyoyev expressed support for next year's global summit in Ashgabat, which will be held within the framework of the “International Year of Peace and Trust” announced by the UN General Assembly on Turkmenistan's initiative.
The event, chaired by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was attended by the presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran, Pakistan, Mongolia and Armenia, as well as heads of parliaments and representatives of international organizations. At the end of the event, the final document of the forum was adopted.
