Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in an interview with the Adjara Public Broadcaster that the ruling Georgian Dream party aims to win in all municipalities following the local government elections scheduled for autumn.

Local government elections will be held in Georgia on October 4. Mayors of large cities will also be elected. The leaders of most opposition parties are in prison for 7-8 months for refusing to cooperate with the parliamentary commission, therefore, they will not be able to participate in the elections. Many oppositionists have already announced their refusal to participate in the elections before being sent to prison. At the same time, President Mikheil Kavelashvili offered to pardon the convicted oppositionists if they decide to participate in the local elections.

"We expect to get a higher percentage than in the previous elections. Then (according to the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections - ed.) we got 54.5% of the votes in the country, and I think that today we can get at least 2% more. However, the election campaign will begin, and there are even more opportunities to increase the result," the prime minister said.
