January was very active in economic terms, Georgia has a big growth in foreign trade, which should continue throughout 2025, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said, commenting on the new data of Georgia's foreign trade turnover.
According to the National Statistics Service “Sakstat”, Georgia's foreign trade turnover in January 2025 increased by 39.2% compared to the same period of 2024 and amounted to 2 billion dollars. During the reporting period, imports grew by 45.4% to 1.6 billion dollars, while exports grew by 19.3% to 403.8 million dollars.
“This is very important data, we have a very big growth in foreign trade..... January was very active in economic terms, and this should continue throughout the year,” Kobakhidze told reporters.
The Prime Minister noted that certain forces associated with the radical opposition are trying to create negative expectations regarding Georgia's economic development, although the facts speak to the contrary.
According to him, the government of the country is actively working for the development of the economy and the visits to neighboring countries, Central Asian countries, Arab states serve to further accelerate the economic development of Georgia.
“I am sure that we will have great success in this direction both in 2025 and in the following years. Unprecedented investments attracted from the United Arab Emirates are certainly one of the important factors that will accelerate economic development,” the Prime Minister said.
Kobakhidze noted that the dream of certain forces to hinder the economic development of Georgia will not be realized and on the contrary, the rapid economic development of the country will continue.

This money will be used to implement a mixed-use development project and create mixed-use infrastructure both in Tbilisi and in Georgia's Black Sea resorts of Batumi and Gonio (Autonomous Republic of Adjara). The investment will be spread over approximately five years, until the project is completed.
