With a consistent policy and patience Tbilisi is capable of returning Abkhazia and South Ossetia, this opinion was expressed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhizde in an interview with Imedi TV channel.

“I think that with consistent policy and patience it is quite realistic to achieve any goal, including our main dream - restoration of territorial integrity,” he said.

According to Kobakhidze, events are developing dynamically and it is still unknown where the processes will go.

“The solution of this issue will depend on different factors, but with patience and the right policy everything is possible,” the prime minister added.

Georgia shelled South Ossetia from Grad multiple rocket launchers on the night of August 8, 2008. Georgian troops attacked the republic and destroyed its capital Tskhinvali. Russia, protecting South Ossetians, many of whom had taken Russian citizenship, brought troops into the republic and, after five days of fighting, drove the Georgian military out. On August 26 of the same year, Moscow recognized the sovereignty of South Ossetia and another former Georgian autonomy, Abkhazia. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that this recognition reflects existing realities and is not subject to revision. Georgia still does not recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia and considers them its own regions.
