Georgia and Azerbaijan will continue working on new strategic projects

Georgia and Azerbaijan have agreed to continue working on new joint strategic projects and deepen trade and economic ties, the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

It is noted that Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvirivishvili held a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev within the framework of an official visit to Azerbaijan.

"At the meeting, the sides agreed that the work will be continued and effective steps will be taken towards the realization of new strategic projects that will contribute to the development of strategic infrastructure of Georgia and Azerbaijan and increase connectivity between the two countries. The importance of cooperation in the tourism sphere was emphasized at the meeting. It was noted that Azerbaijan is a strategic tourist market of Georgia," the report says.

According to the agency, special attention was paid to strengthening trade and economic relations between the countries. The sides agreed that cooperation in strategic projects between Georgia and Azerbaijan will have a positive impact on economic indicators, including attraction of additional investments. The meeting also discussed security challenges in the world and the region, for overcoming which the importance of peace and stability was emphasized.

"At the meeting, the sides confirmed good neighborly and strategic partnership relations between the two countries. Mariam Kvrivishvili thanked the Azerbaijani side for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. The sides discussed the importance of cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in various directions to ensure stability and development in the South Caucasus region, paying special attention to bilateral and regional economic projects," the statement said.
