Former Georgian Prime Minister Gakharia was beaten up in Batumi

The leader of the opposition party “For Georgia”, former Prime Minister of the republic Giorgi Gakharia was beaten up in Batumi, Rustavi 2 TV channel reported.


“The incident took place at the Sheraton hotel. According to party members, several people were involved in the attack,” the publication said.


Doctors at the Batumi clinic said that Gakharia was hospitalized with a broken nose and concussion, but the politician left the hospital of his own accord.


The Georgian Interior Ministry has launched an investigation into the case.
