Car sales in Uzbekistan increased in August

Sales of passenger cars in Uzbekistan increased in August, both in the primary and secondary markets. This was reported in the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
In the primary market sales of cars increased by 22.4%, which is almost 7 thousand cars more compared to July. In annual terms, the activity is stabilizing. If in July the decrease in sales was at the level of 12%, in August it was only 1%.
In the secondary market of passenger cars, sales increased by 5% compared to July. During the reporting period, 64.6 thousand cars were sold in this segment. Over the year, sales decreased by 33.7%.
Sales of foreign cars increased by 25.6%, which is more than 680 foreign cars more than a month earlier. At the same time, sales transactions were down 38% for the year.
Sales of electric vehicles nearly halved over the month to 1.7 thousand units in August. The primary market for new electric vehicles saw a 53% drop in sales for the month, while the secondary market saw a 37% decline. On a year-over-year basis, used electric vehicle sales were up 20%.
“Trends in passenger car sales by region show that Surkhandarya, Fergana and Andijan regions saw the highest growth in August, up 54%, 25.4% and 24.8% respectively,” the CEIR website said.
