Armenian-Turkish relations have been ‘held hostage’ by Azerbaijan, and this is very bad. Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan told journalists.

According to him, Baku is trying in every possible way to influence the process of normalisation of relations between Yerevan and Ankara. Simonyan believes that the Turkish side also realises how bad it is.

Nevertheless, Armenia, as Simonyan stressed, will continue to work with Turkey for normalisation. In this context, he spoke very positively about the recent meeting with his Turkish counterpart in Geneva.

The Parliament Speaker also positively assessed yesterday's statement of Erdogan, who said that Turkey is waiting for the signing of the peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku as the process of normalisation of relations with Armenia progresses.

To recall, back in December 2021, Yerevan and Ankara appointed special representatives for talks on normalisation of relations. In July 2022, an agreement was reached in Vienna on ensuring the possibility of crossing the Armenian-Turkish land border by citizens of third countries visiting Armenia and Turkey respectively, as well as the implementation of direct air transport of goods and launching the necessary processes for this purpose. However, the issue has not been resolved so far.
