The Armenian Parliament in the second and final reading adopted the draft amendments to the law ‘On State Secrets’, regulating the procedure of access to the information of the Foreign Intelligence Service. ‘65 people voted in favour, 16 voted against, 5 abstained.
Employees of the Service, as well as individuals and legal entities performing certain work for its needs, shall be granted access based on the results of inspections conducted jointly with other state security bodies.
This access should be limited to information necessary for the performance of predetermined work (this applies not only to outsiders, but also to employees of the Service). It is noted that the detailed procedure of familiarisation of these persons with the secret data will be approved by the Prime Minister of Armenia.
To remind, the Foreign Intelligence Service was separated from the National Security Service in December 2022, and Kristine Grigoryan (former Ombudsman of Armenia) was appointed its head.
