The opposition faction of the Armenian parliament "Armenia" accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of abuse of power due to the commitments he made following the trilateral meeting in Washington with the leaders of the United States and Azerbaijan, Donald Trump and Ilham Aliyev.
Following Pashinyan's meeting with the presidents of the United States and Azerbaijan, a declaration was adopted in Washington on the initialing by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan of the agreed text of the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the two countries. In addition, Yerevan and Baku signed an appeal to the OSCE with a request to dissolve the Minsk Group. Yerevan also agreed to cooperate with the United States and third parties to create the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" linking Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan autonomy through the territory of Armenia.
"Nikol Pashinyan, once again abusing his powers established by the constitution and laws, violating the public-legal responsibility assumed by the government, is trying to mislead the Armenian people with false peace propaganda, seeking to ensure the preservation of his regime," the faction said in a statement.
The political force considered the next concessions imposed on Armenia unacceptable and reprehensible. "We confirm that it is possible to get out of this vicious circle of defeats imposed on our people, restore our national dignity and create a strong statehood. All this can be achieved without allowing the preservation of the current regime of Armenia - the culprit of the national tragedy," the statement said.
The "Armenia" faction believes that peace and long-term stability based on the free self-determination of nations require multilateral coordination of interests, a real balance of power and the presence of international guarantees. "On our part, it is necessary to ensure the strengthening of Armenia's internal and external security, the formation of intra-national solidarity, the strengthening of national-state institutions, as well as the involvement of external allies," the faction stated.
