Another anti-government rally is taking place in the center of Tbilisi in front of the parliament building, the participants are demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of protesters detained during the rallies, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

Rustaveli Avenue adjacent to the parliament is again blocked to automobile traffic. Before the start of the next, main protest action on the avenue, a procession was held in the center of the capital. Its participants wore masks with the image of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party. By doing so, they protested against the law adopted earlier by the parliament banning the wearing of masks during rallies and once again confirmed their disobedience to the ruling authorities.

In December 2024, the Georgian parliament adopted by a majority vote a law banning the wearing of masks and covering faces during protests.

Continuous protests in Georgia began after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced on November 28, 2024 that he had decided to suspend consideration of the start of negotiations on the country's membership in the European Union until 2028. Law enforcers detained several hundred people during the rallies.
